The X-Stream severe service control valve, is a result of an extensive research programme at Weir's Blakeborough facility. The need to solve cavitation, erosion and noise in high pressure severe process applications resulted in using a combination of proven computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and actual flow visualisation techniques. The objective of the X-Stream severe service control valve was to eliminate local areas of excessive turbulence, velocity and recirculating flow addressing the source of all noise, erosion and cavitation respectively. Through it’s unique flow path design, consisting of a multitude of staggered cylinders, the X-Stream is the first of its kind to solve all of the above and provide complete 3D-flow control. The X-Stream design is most suitable for all severe service liquid, steam and gas applications. Some of the additional features include trim design equated to upto 40 stages of pressure reduction. Custom design to address linear, equal percentage and flow charcteristics. The single unit cage guided trim design facilitates quick removal and installation.
